death kitty

remember Eleanor?

well Matt was house sitting last week for the family that adopted her, so I got to go visit for a few minutes.

she is still the sweetest, and seems to be doing very well.

and her name isn't Eleanor, and it isn't Pickle either..... it's Twila now.

adventure night

Friday evening we decided to go on an adventure.

first, we went for a drive to Copperton (which I didn't know existed until 25 minutes before we were there) and listened to Hall and Oates on our journey.

then past the mines

then all over the south part of the valley determined to stumble across something that sounded delicious.  we stumbled here.

it was delicious.  win.
when we got home, we watched Rain Main, but I fell asleep halfway through (from exhaustion - not boredom, obv.) at 9:45.

Dear Moo

Dear Moo,

Happy Mother’s Day.  I have a lot to thank you for since last Mother’s Day and a lot to thank you for since always.

Thank you for raising me in a home that was always comfortable, fun, and full of love.  A home that always had and still has an open-door policy for me (confession: I actually stopped there on Thursday when nobody was home to use the restroom and make a peanut butter sandwich).  When my kids walk into my home someday, I want them to feel like I feel when I walk into yours.

Thank you for showing me how to be a renaissance woman with a life that is simultaneously and beautifully dedicated to family, friends, creativity, passion, and hard work.  You are equal parts fiery-liberal-brainiac business woman, and giggly fun-loving craft mom who loves Christmas traditions, grandkids, time with friends, and flowers more than maybe anyone.

Thank you for always listening and never complaining or losing patience even when I call you to whine about everything from what I had for lunch to world hunger.  Thank you for teaching me that we worry because we care.  Worrying is our strength as much as our weakness, because we love so hard.

Thank you for always being supportive of every decision I make and crazy thing I pursue.  You have stood firmly by my side during my wrong turns, and celebrated my successes louder than anyone.  Thank you for making my best decision to date (marrying Matt) the most special day ever.  Thank you for caring about every tiny detail as much of not more than I did.  Thank you for being a mom that every one of my friends adores.

Thank you for letting me comfort you now when things suck sometimes.  Please know that if and when I do provide comfort, I am simply regurgitating the things you already taught me. Your strength astounds me, and everything is going to be okay.  I know it.

Thank you for allowing me to observe and understand how much you adored and respected your own mother.

I cannot even begin to describe the number of ways you are a role model to me as a woman, a mother, a friend, a sister, and a person.  I am like you in so many ways, and I hope that means I can someday be even half the mom you are.

I love you,

megan

things I forgot to blog about

just like last time

another stressful but inspiring day at work
and then a morning to spend with my favorites after
when this guy borrowed my hoodie and inherited my sunglasses
one of the tiny ones insisted on carrying my purse while she putt-putted, and then got 3 legit holes-in-one
when we went to see her play t-ball
and these guys were there too.

i expect a job offer from Blizzard execs any minute now

it's common for artists with skills like mine to receive requests for drawings often
...so I wasn't surprised when my brother asked me to draw some stuff.

he makes video games, and I think one of them is coming out soon... Diablo?  perhaps you've heard of it.  I've never seen or played the game, but I hear it's pretty popular.

anyway, he challenged me to draw 6 things from the game sight unseen, and then he'll tell me if it looks like the game.

he told me to draw:

" a barbarian with a really big ax or something"

"a monk that knows karate"

"a demon hunter"
"a witch doctor"
"a wizard"
"a devil.  with spikes."
easy.
barbarian with really big ax
 a monk that knows karate
 demon hunter
 witch doctor
 wizard
 devil with spikes

does this look like Diablo?

also, I'm pretty sure I just lost 2-3 of my 8 readers.

photo shoot

and because I was accused today of turning this into a dog blog,
I now promise that the next 10 posts will not say a word about Dori.
