melted

every year there are two major events at work which make life crazy at the end of April/ beginning of May.  I always feel like I won't survive the craziness.
this year I added 3 classes to my plate, so I'm also trying to finish those and finals before next Thursday which happens to be the day of major event # 2.  yesterday was major event # 1.

I was in the middle of a 17 hour day when matt sent me this picture of Dori watching him work on stuff in the garage.

and then my heart melted, and I knew everything was going to be okay.

friday

um it's about to be a great weekend.
I get to see Matt tonight, AND tomorrow night, AND all day Sunday.
the weather is supposed to be perfect...
so here is a list of things we plan to do / I want to do but have not asked Matt about (yet)
1. pho double date tonight with these fine people to wish them well on their upcoming adventure

2. see this movie.
I love Disney's annual Earth Day movie.  I even tricked Matt into taking me to see Oceans two years ago for our 2nd date.  *which means he knew about the crazy whale stuff early, and had plenty of opportunity to run the other way*

3.  Now that she is fully immunized, take this little lady to the dog park for the first time.

4. go bowling

5. bring Trent & Sergio their birthdays presents

6. eat here

7. and explore here and/or here

sneaky

so much to blog about.  no time to blog it.

last week was a very sneaky week. (during sneaky week, I learned I love using the word "sneaky"... and I would like to be sneaky more often)

first, drew came for a visit and surprised my parents.  It was awesome.
we went to their house, and my mom came down the hallway and actually screamed.  and then cried.  and then I cried.

then we had a surprise birthday party for shellie while she was here
I didn't take any pictures of her being surprised, so you just have to take my word for it.

we did get these awesome sibling pictures
and a good drew photo bomb - which is pretty sneaky
then I was sneaky and flew to CO to surprise Alex for her bridal shower...

next post.

Caine's Arcade

I have been meaning to post this for a week.

I love this for about a million reasons, but I especially love knowing that I'm pretty sure Matt was exactly like Caine when he was his age.

sds2012

remember this?
well we just did it again.
we took it up a few notches on the cheese scale this time.

if we were at a 7 on the scale before... we were probably at a 1,489 this time.

first, Julianna suggested that we each bring some of our "favorite can't-live-without-it things" to gift to each other.
she brought:
-Salon Selectives (when Shellie and I saw this, we both said "Salon Selectives is still around?"
-some snacks
-and most importantly, COUPONS for the Tanger outlets and Target (both of which were scheduled destinations for our day)
-and a really cute letter about her choices.

Shellie gave us
-delicious dark chocolate pomegranate morsels.
and I gave them
-a Garlic Zoom (if you don't have one, and you ever use garlic... you need one - I got these at Harmon's)
-and my favorite chap stick
you may have noticed them wearing the same outfits.  yes, that happened.
we decided to be completely ridiculous and wear matching "comfy" outfits for sister day complete with our custom "three peas in a pod" necklaces that I gave them before my wedding.  We thought it was hilarious, but didn't think through what other people would think or say when they saw us.  One person asked us if it was "like Disneyland - where you dress your kids the same so you don't lose them", others asked if we were there for a conference, a seminar, a retreat, etc...
no proper cheese fest would be complete without top 40 hits from our childhood (and a couple from the past 5ish years), so we also built a custom play list for the day...
as you can see, we have no shame.
and I have no trouble admitting that I belted out Wilson Phillips throughout my childhood, and all the way up Parley's Canyon on Wednesday.

I think if you're lucky enough to be good enough friends with your siblings to want to spend an entire day with them, you should go big or go home.

we shopped a lot, we dined a lot, we walked a lot, and we laughed A LOT.
it was so ridiculous, and so much fun.
I love them, and don't worry - we have already started planning SD August 2012. :)

shopping

tnt

trent: "I hate doing my taxes."
me: "everybody hates doing their taxes.  nobody is stoked about doing their taxes."
trent: "some people are.  some people do them like really early."
me: "that's because they want their money.  not because they love taxes."
trent: well I would give them my money if it meant I didn't have to do taxes."

trent: "a duck walked into a hardware store"
me: "I think I know the punch line"
trent: "you do?  did I already tell you this one?"
me: "I don't know, maybe I just know the punch line."
trent: "what is it?"
me: "do you have any nails?"
trent: "yeah."

me: "did you change your address with the post office yet?"
trent: "no"
me: "you have to."
trent: "why?"
me: "because you're a grown up"
trent: "nope.  why?"
